Rumours about the recent reunion of 90’s electro dance-rock group Def FX appear to be true. The reformed group will be doing an East Coast tour lead by lead vocalist, Fiona Horne, and original bass player Martyn Basha. They’ll be playing shows this May and June, visiting cities Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney for their first time in 15 years.
Formed in Sydney in 1990, DEF FX carved out a unique place in Australian music. At the core of the band’s success and their critical and public attention was their inimitable blend of electronic beats and samples, rock/metal instrumentation and grunge vocals, which saw them draw comparisons with artists as disparate as Pink Floyd, Metallica and The Prodigy.
They broke up in 1997, after their final, and by far their most successful, album Majick.
Since then, Horne followed up with musical releases Shut Up and Kiss Me with Paul McDermott and a solo single Let’s Go Out Tonight before becoming a successful author, writing various books, two autobiographies and guides to the Wicca, for which she has a strong belief and interest.
