UPDATE 10/09/16: Contrary to numerous media reports, it appears as if Die Antwoord are not actually breaking up.
Yo-Landi has just shared an Instagram post, calling out the journalist who originally reported on their supposed breakup for “twisting their words”.
However she has confirmed that the groups fifth album will also be their last so go figure.
Either way, it looks like the zeefest rap krew this side of South Africa will live to zef another day! And star in their own feature film?!
Original Story: Bad news for Die Antwoord fans, with the lunatic South African rappers apparently announcing plans to break up next year.
According to Noisey, the band will call it quits in September of 2017, with rap dynamo Ninja saying: “Die Antwoord dies on that day. It’s all over. I feel beautiful about it. I’m not scared of the end. I’m a Ninja. I’m not scared of death.”
At the beginning of their career, the zeffin’ rave-rap krew stated promised that they’d release five albums and then “disappear”, and now with their fourth studio LP Mount Ninji & Da Nice Time Kid looming on the horizon, the long-forgotten promise is rearing its ugly head.
Aussie fans who want to make sure they get to catch Die Antwoord one last time before they seemingly hang up their microphones for good can catch them playing this year’s Origin NYE festival in Perth.
But for now, they’ve dropped a brand new profanity-laden rap pearler, Fat Faded Fuck Face. Check it out below.
