Melbourne’s Ding Dong Lounge have announced that they will be hosting what they’re calling “the NYE bender to end all NYE benders,” with a show headlined by seven-piece psychedelic impressionists King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, with sets from The Murlocs and many more.
Since King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard will first assembled one of their Camelot-like roundtables, they’ve quickly cemented a reputation as a dynamic live band. From spots at Meredith Music Festival to Big Day Out, they enliven audiences with their psychedelic garage assault.
Meanwhile, The Murlocs have transformed stints playing alongside Thee Oh Sees, Graveyard Train and Dave Graney, and spots at Meredith and Harvest festivals, into some of the most talked-about garage R&B shows in recent years, described as “mesmerising demented dance parties.”
The night will also see performances from Adelaide garage kids Bad//Dreems, who’ve played acclaimed slots supporting Children Collide, and Perth fuzzbox-abusers The Love Junkies, to whom punters have moshed at 2013’s Southbound, Big Day Out and Groove In The Moo festivals.
