The super-producer, who also forms one half of Jack Ü and one third of Major Lazer, will hit Aussie venues in March, for a massive run of dates in Brisbane, Sydney, Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne and Darwin. You heard that right — Darwin.
The Mad Decent head honcho has also teased that he’ll be bringing some big guests along for the ride — both locals and internationals — but he’s yet to reveal who said guests might be. Diplo’s m8 Justin Bieber is also touring Australia in March of next year, although that could be totally unrelated (but probably isn’t).
Diplo has also told triple j that his Aussie tour performances will be “more like club shows”, despite going down in some of the country’s biggest venues.
“I haven’t done any solo shows in Australia in venues for like eight years because I’ve only been playing the festival circuit so I wanna come back and do more of a club show,” he says.
“It’s really exciting, I’m bringing some friends [too], it’s gonna be crazy.”
Diplo’s big announcement comes hot on the heels of a bangin’ new collab between Jack Ü and Florence Welch, and he’s told triple j that he’s got plenty more new material in the bag.
“I’ve got some new Major Lazer records coming out at the top of the year… an Afrobeat record we did, some hip hop songs I’ve done, about four tracks, and some club stuff. Doing everything.”
