Dragonette Confirmed for Stereosonic Festival and Tour

Canadian band Dragonette are about to take-off. Not only are they gearing up for their first-ever album release in Australia, they’ve also just announced that they will play the national Stereosonic Festival which hits Sydney, Perth, Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane in November/December!

Dragonette have been shaking things up in Canada and the UK with their sharp, sardonically witty electronic pop tunes, playing sell-out gigs across their homeland along with performances at Spain’s Summercase and the legendary Glastonbury Festival. Front-woman Martina Sorbara also co-wrote and sang on the Basement Jaxx track ‘Take Me Back To Your House’.

The four-piece outfit last graced Australian shores in 2008 to play the Parklife Festival, and have been busy working on an album that is ‘all killer, no filler’ ever since. Ruthless perfectionists, they explain that “We don’t have any spare songs. We write songs till they’re finished, then we kill off other ones. It’s not like we picked 10 out of a possible 20 for the album.”

The first single ‘Fixin To Thrill’ from the album of the same name has been steadily climbing the ARIA Club Chart since it’s release in July, hitting No.3. The band also recorded a track ‘Boys And Girls’ with French DJ Martin Solveig earlier in the year. It was specially commissioned by Jean-Paul Gaultier with the video being shot in his mansion in Paris and featuring Gaultier himself in the clip.

The album “Fixin To Thrill” will be released October 2, and to celebrate the release, Dragonette’s Martina & Dan will be here in Australia to show everyone what the fuss is all about as they do a mad dash of promotional commitments, sound-system-sets, and create havoc in the hearts of Australians.

Dragonette’s signature dirty, sexy hook-heavy electro-pop is sure to be this summer’s soundtrack!
