Ed Sheeran To Play Lisa’s New Crush On ‘The Simpsons’, Soz Milhouse

Not content with ruining the latest season premiere of Game Of Thrones for some Thronies, Ed Sheeran is set to voice a character in an upcoming music-themed episode of The Simpsons.

Sheeran will play a musician (and Lisa Simpson’s crush) named Brendan in the episode, which is titled ‘Haw-Haw Land’, EW reports.

Unfortunately, Sheeran’s appearance means things aren’t looking good for Lisa’s longtime admirer stalker Milhouse Van Houten, for whom things won’t be ‘coming up Milhouse’ while Brendan’s in town.

“When Lisa meets Brendan, Milhouse comes in and he goes, ‘I’ve brought three kinds of waters — cold, warm, and lukewarm,’” says the show’s Executive Producer Al Jean.

“Lisa goes, ‘I’m not thirsty anymore,’ and Milhouse goes, ‘Dammit!’

“[Brendan] keeps alternating [between], ‘You’re not that great, but you could be fantastic,’ and [Lisa] keeps falling for him because of his talent.”

Meanwhile, schoolyard bully Nelson Muntz will try to impress Lisa with his singing talents (or lack thereof).

“He sings ‘Save the Last Dance for Me’ with new lyrics, and he kind of bullies those notes,” Jean says.

The singer is a longtime Simpsons fan and has a tattoo of Blinky the three-eyed fish, so his new role in the show makes sense.

“We had a perfect part for him,” Jean says. “So we said, ‘Oh, great, we’ll have him do this!’ And we recorded him over the phone from England.”

Sheeran is the latest in a long line of musicians to join the Simpsons family, after Beyoncé, Snoop Dogg, RZA and more appeared on the series’ first-ever hourlong episode earlier this year.

Sheeran’s cameo will appear in Season 29, which will begin on 1st October.
