Eminem Unveils ‘The Marshall Mathers LP 2’ Cover Art

Eminem has unveiled the cover artwork for his upcoming eighth studio album, The Marshall Mathers LP 2. The album is the sequel to his 2000 hit The Marshall Mathers LP, which netted the rapper hit singles in the forms of The Real Slim Shady, The Way I Am, and Stan.

Em took to Twitter to reveal the cover art to fans, first offering up a chance to see the cover before anyone else by answering a trivia question, stating “Alright I’m gonna ask a trivia question…first person to get it right gets the #MMLP2 album art before anyone else.” The question: “What street did me & Mr. Porter live on together in Detroit when we were working as cooks at Gilbert’s Lodge?”

The rapper then took to Twitter again an hour later, to upload the artwork for the rest of the world to see. The cover for the new LP harks back to the original MMLP, with Em’s childhood home at 19946 Dresden, Detroit featuring prominently. The Detroit Free Press recently reported that the home — now owned by the Michigan Land Bank — recently went up for auction, with a minimum bid of $1.

The home was purchased by the rapper’s mother, Deborah Mathers in 1987 for $19,900, with the deed passing to her son seven years later, who signed it over to Ann Investment. It was acquired by Michigan Land Bank before being foreclosed for non-payment of taxes in 2001.

Earlier this month, Eminem released the video for the first single off The Marshall Mathers LP 2, titled Berzerk. The video features cameos from Kendrick Lamar, Rick Rubin, and Eminem’s crew The Slaughterhouse. You can check out the vid and the artwork for MMLP2 below.
