American blues and roots singer-songwriter Eric Bibb will return to Australia in May 2024, roughly a year after his last run of dates in the country. The prolific New York-born and Stockholm-based musician is touring in support of his 24th solo album Ridin’, which he released back in March of this year and was recently nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Traditional Blues Album.
Bibb’s Australian run will begin at the Blues On Broadbeach festival on the Gold Coast, where he will perform across both days. The tour will conclude a fortnight later in early June, with a performance in the Yarra Valley town of Upwey. Prior to the Australian tour, Bibb will also perform at Auckland’s Tuning Fork and The Piano in Christchurch. A full list of Bibb’s 2024 tour dates can be found below.
Eric Bibb – ‘Blues Funky Like Dat’
Bibb first toured Australia in 2001, in support of his eighth studio album Painting Signs. He performed at that year’s Bluesfest alongside Ben Harper, Midnight Oil, Kasey Chambers and the John Butler Trio. He has returned to Australia on an almost-yearly basis since then, COVID notwithstanding, and recorded a live DVD while on tour here in 2010 entitled Live at The Basement – so named after the famed Sydney jazz venue where the show was filmed.
