Eurovision 2019: Here Are The Final Three Acts In The Running To Represent Australia

The final three acts in the running to represent Australia at Eurovision 2019 have been announced, along with five new songs which could become the country’s anthem at the annual song contest.

With seven potential acts already announced, organisers have today named Killing Heidi frontwoman and rock icon Ella Hooper, Bachelor Girl singer Tania Doko and The Voice winner Alfie Arcuri as the final acts to perform for a Eurovision spot on SBSEurovision – Australia Decides program in February.

“It’s very exciting to be involved in anything that is the first of its kind, and in recent years I have become more and more fascinated with Eurovision, so it’s perfect timing,” said Ella Hooper.

“I’m hoping to bring a bit of traditional rock ‘n’ roll energy to a bombastic performance of a meaningful pop song.”

Today’s three additions join an Australia Decides lineup which already featured the likes of drag queen Courtney Act, singer-songwriter Kate Miller-Heidke, operatic pop singer Mark Vincent and electro-soul duo Electric Fields.

Five more original compositions in the running for a Eurovision birth have also been shared today, and you can check them out below.

All 10 nominated acts will perform on the Gold Coast on Saturday, 9th February, with their performances broadcast live on SBS.

Over 700 songs were submitted for Australia’s Eurovision campaign after the selection process was opened up to all Australians in October, and the eventual winning act (and song) will be chosen by the public and a special Eurovision jury.

Eurovision 2019 will take place in Tel Aviv, Israel in May, and will mark Australia’s fifth appearance at the competition, after Jessica Mauboy took out 20th place in 2018 with her song ‘We Got Love’.
