Goth rockers Evanescence have given their dark and heavy spin on Fleetwood Mac‘s classic Rumours cut ‘The Chain’ as part of their contribution to the soundtrack for Gears 5, the latest in the Gears of War video game franchise.
“This cover was so fun to make. We love Fleetwood Mac and wanted to paint a dark and epic picture with our take,” commented singer Amy Lee said in a statement.
“The lyrics make me feel the power of standing together against great forces trying to pull us apart, perhaps even from the inside. I really wanted to drive that home in our version, and even made everyone in the band sing by the end of it! We’re beyond excited to share this with our fans and I’m really looking forward to playing it live.”
In related news, the band are planning to release a new album next year – their first album of new music since their 2011 self-titled release. Back in 2017, they released Synthesis, which re-imagined tracks from their catalogue with orchestral arrangements and electronic elements.
