The awkward eyeliner-smeared teen that dwells within all of us is about to lose his/her shit because Evanescence are working on their first album of new material in almost a decade.
Goth kween Amy Lee has revealed that the long-awaited follow-up to Evanescence’s 2011 self-titled LP is on the way.
“This is sort of a creation year for us,” she tells Sirius XM. “We’re playing a few festivals and some headlining shows — a little bit, but not too heavy. And in the time in between getting together and starting the writing process for a new album.”
As for when fans can expect the new music to surface, Lee says “Hopefully next year”.
“We’re just gonna get together and see what happens this month, and start doing that more regularly until we feel like we’re ready to do it,” she adds.
Evanescence last toured Australia in 2018 off the back of their album of symphonic rearrangements, Synthesis.
Hopefully a new album on the way means a new Aussie tour won’t be far off either!
