Eventbrite report finds 77% of Aussies support pill testing

Music fans from all walks of life are united in support of pill testing, according to Eventbrite’s 2019 Australian Music Fans Report.

The report surveyed over 1,130 gig-goers of all ages, and found that 77% were in support of the introduction of pill testing.

Participants weighed in on a variety of topics surrounding the live music industry, social media, and streaming.

The report also found that Baby Boomers (born 1946-1964) are the most-committed music fans, attending more than any other age group.

When it comes to Generation Z (aged 18-22), 60% said the availability of discounted or early-bird tickets was crucial in buying tickets.

Finally, 55% of respondents relied on social media to learn about live music events, and 79% of Gen Z’s have posted a photo or video to their social media accounts from a live event.

“Music fans are attending more shows, they’re sharing more content, and they’re engaging more deeply with artists, venues and festivals across a range of online and offline channels than they ever have before,” said Eventbrite Asia Pacific General Manager Phil Silverstone.

It’s an exciting time for Australia’s live music industry – and we’re thrilled to play a role in powering its success.”

Pill testing was trialed for the second consecutive year at Groovin The Moo Canberra recently.
