First Speaker Lineup Announced For The 2016 Electronic Music Conference

Electronic Music Conference (EMC) is being held in Sydney, for the third year running. The conference will run over five days as a place where electronic music fanatics will gather from far and wide to discuss, network and experience all things EM.

Today EMC organisers have released the first lineup of speakers who will join keynote speaker Mirik Milan, aka Amsterdam’s Night Mayor, in discussing and celebrating all things electronic music in a range of different formats. Talks will take place on panels, at roundtables, and in workshops and masterclasses.

Some of the sessions, held at the Ivy in Sydney, include:

Nightlife: The Future Of Australia’s Night Time Culture; Lights + Music: Exploring Live Show Creation; Express Yourself: How LGBTI Culture is Pioneering the Club Experience; Pressing Matters: Why Vinyl Is On The Rise; Coming To You Live: Connecting With Audiences Through Live Streaming; Music and Brands: Partnerships Done Right; and The Art of Rave: The Connection Between Art and Music.

Music Victoria’s Patrick Donovan will be discussing policies on how Australian cities can take a closer look at their night-life. He will be offering strategies that can bring about positive change to create a flourishing night-life. Maybe Mike Baird should attend this one to learn a thing or two?

EMC will also bring together some big names in visual and light displays from stage shows and festivals around the globe. A panel called Lights + Music: Exploring Live Show Creation will include Bionic League founder Martin Phillips, responsible for Daft Punk’s famous Alive Tour design. He will speak about working with Daft Punk and The Presets, among others. Toby Pike, one of the men responsible for Flume’s Infinity Prism tour, Rüfüs, Flight Facilities and more will be speaking as well.

EMC will also be working with triple j Unearthed music director Dave Ruby Howe. Howe will be the 2016 Programmer of EMCPlay, a series of parties that showcase emerging Australian electronic music artists. You can apply for this until midnight Sunday so get in ASAP if you’re a bedroom producer that wants to be heard. To apply, head over to their official website.

There will be over 150 speakers included in the conference, but see below for the list so far.
