Flume And Lorde Agree To Collaborate, Hype Levels Set For All-Time High

If a two-tweet back-and-forth between EDM darling Flume and hotter-than-hot indie popette Lorde is any indication, we could be seeing a collaboration between the pair in the not-too-distant future.

A simple duo of tweets (below) was all it took to send the microblogging service in a frenzy after Flume, legal name Harley Streten, indicated that NZ magazine Coup De Main had passed on a message from the 16-year-old chanteuse suggesting a musical team up. Streten was clearly chuffed at the proposal, saying, “Great idea, lets write some music together”. Drool.

Shooting a quick message back in reply, Lorde responded with a simple “bangerzzz” – we’re assuming that’s youth-speak for, “Let’s make sure this happens before the buzz dies down”, or possibly, “I will fall asleep right after I eat this banger”. Kids these days, eh?

Of course, this could all just be buzz-building in anticipation of Lorde’s debut album Pure Heroine, set to drop at the end of next month. Both artists are handled by the same PR firm, Bossy, and they’re both certainly no strangers to the hype machine.

Of course, hype or no hype, if this does go ahead it will cement Lorde’s place as Australia’s newest favourite adopted daughter, especially if the mooted new tunes go down as smoothly as the recent remix of her chart-buster Royals by the one and only The Weeknd.
