UPDATE 13/02/17: The 2017 Grammy Award winners have been announced.
ORIGINAL STORY: The nominees for the 2017 Grammy Awards have been announced, with Aussies Flume and Sia flying the flag after securing two noms each.
Sia’s nominations came in the categories for Best Vocal Pop Album for This Is Acting and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for Cheap Thrills with Sean Paul. Flume is up for Best Dance Recording for Never Be Like You and Skin is nominated for Best Dance/Electronic Album.
The awards will go down on February 12th, 2017 with The Late Show’s James Corden take over hosting duties from LL Cool J, and Lemonade Queen Beyoncé leads the way with a whopping nine nominations, including nods for Album, Song and Record of the Year.
Work collaborators Drake and Rihanna also look set to dominate the 59th Annual Grammys after they nabbed eight nominations each, while one of 2016’s hottest rising stars Chance The Rapper secured seven nominations of his own, including Best New artist and Best Rap Album.
Kanye West is up for five Grammys, as is Adele, who will go up against Beyonce for Album, Song and Record of the Year. The late David Bowie was also nominated five times, and Radiohead, Bon Iver, and Anderson .Paak have all secured two nominations.
Justin Bieber and country singer Sturgill Simpson will also contest the category for Album of the Year while Twenty One Pilots, Rihanna and Danish pop/soul band are the other nominees for Record of the Year. The Biebs has also grabbed a spot in the Song of the Year category, alongside Lukas Graham, Mike Posner, Queen B and Adele.
After seven albums and years of helping teens through their angsty punk phases Blink-182 have finally secured their first every Grammy nomination, nabbing a spot in the category for Best Rock Album for California.
Last year’s awards were dominated by the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Alabama Shakes and Taylor Swift, while The Weeknd, Ed Sheeran and Jack U won two Grammys each.
As previously reported, neither of Frank Ocean’s 2016 albums Blonde or Endless were ineligible for nomination.
