Is a Gumbyverse something we want and/or need?
Well, we’re gonna find out! Fox has announce that they have acquired the rights to the iconic green character, and have unveiled their plans for the Gumby brand moving forward.
Presently, The Gumby Show and Gumby Adventures currently broadcasts on streaming platform Tubi, but under this new acquisition Fox is planning on expanding into a number of different production ideas.
Namely, there’ll be new animated show, action figures, merch, NFTs (yes, NFTs) and somehow, a live-action film. Who even knows!
Check out a photo of Gumby – and his friend Pokey – at their new home of Fox Studios below.

The character of Gumby was first created back in the 1950s by Art Clokey and has remained in the family’s estate. With the news of Fox buying it breaking this week, they’ve attributed a quote to the green clay figure himself. Here we are.
“Picking a new home was important to me, and I’ve found great partners in FOX Entertainment,” reads the statement.
“They have a vision for my modern, multi-platform reemergence, which is thrilling.” Sell it, Gumby. “Throughout our conversations, Pokey and I reiterated that we are talent they can mold. Literally.”
Says Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier, “Competition for globally recognised intellectual property is fierce. Uncovering this gem, with its built-in awareness and affinity, and bringing it to Fox, adds meaningful value and creative possibilities to the IP itself and to multiple divisions of our company.”
