Good Charlotte frontman and The Voice Australia judge Joel Madden has been sprung with marijuana in his hotel room, with a housekeeper discovering a small amount of the green on Sunday afternoon then calling the police.
The boys in blue were called by hotel staff at 4:30pm and carried out a room search while the 34-year-old father of 2 was present. Madden was immediately kicked out of the Sydney Star Casino hotel room after less than 5 grams of reefer was discovered, but no charges are being laid as NSW law allows a simple caution to be issued for possession of small amount of drugs.
“Sunday while I was at work, a hotel employee found a small amount of marijuana in my hotel room. The police were called and responded. Sydney is my adopted home and I appreciate the way the NSW police handled the situation. They have informed me there will be no charges. I hope this didn’t cause too much drama for anyone.”
A spokesperson for the hotel said it’s their policy to chuck out anyone found with illegal drugs, saying, “He was not afforded any special treatment and he’s moved out.” Lifestyles of the rich and the famous, indeed. No news on whether this will affect Madden’s position on reality juggernaut The Voice, which coincidentally airs its grand final next Monday night.
