With the hype surrounding a new Gorillaz album still skyrocketing, the group’s guitarist and vocalist Noodle has shared a 12-track playlist of songs by “kick-ass women” who have inspired her during the album-making process.
“In search of new sounds and new inspiration, I found these kick-ass women who in their own individual ways are true pioneers in the writing, production and creation of MUSIC,” Noodle says on Facebook.
“They have inspired me, and I hope they inspire you too.”
Noodle’s mix, which you can stream in full below, features tracks by the likes of Grimes, Fatima Al Quadiri, Empress Of, ABRA and Anna Meredith. The playlist also features narration from late English musician Delia Derbyshire and Polaris Prize-nominated percussionist Evelyn Glennie.
Noodle’s playlist of “kick-ass women” comes after Gorillaz bassist shared his ‘Dirty Santa Party’ Christmas playlist last month, and we’re still cleaning ourselves off after that one.
Gorillaz’s long-awaited new album, the follow-up to 2010’s The Fall, is expected to drop sometime this year, after the virtual band teased a big announcement “coming soon”, dropped a series of animated comics and teased some mysterious numbers through an OkCupid profile.
