Green Day, Nine Inch Nails, Tame Impala & More Headed For Reading And Leeds Festival 2013

A year after they made a surprise appearance in one of the tents at Reading Festival, Green Day will be returning to headline both Reading and Leeds Festivals in the UK for 2013 this August, along with Nine Inch Nails, Tame Impala and others.

Organisers unveiled the final line-up overnight, confirming Green Day as the third and final main stage headliner, joining Eminem and Biffy Clyro in topping the bill this year.

The Reading and Leeds headlining slot is a UK festival exclusive for the band, who are also playing a handful of European festivals including Rock Werchter in Belgium, Rock Am Ring in Germany and BBK Live in Spain. Up until last night’s announcement, the only UK date they had locked in for the upcoming European summer was a one-off gig at London’s Emirates Stadium in June.

And it gets better. Not content with revealing Green Day as main stage headliners, a swag of other bands have also been added to the bill, led by the recently-reformed Nine Inch Nails, who are also doing an exclusive UK appearance at the event.

Skrillex will be catering for those who prefer their dubstep over punk rock on opening night, headlining the NME/Radio 1 Stage along with A$AP Rocky and Major Lazer.

Chase And Status will warm the main stage for Eminem, while Phoenix, Azealia Banks and City and Colour will be holding court on the final day in the NME/Radio 1 Stage.

And local heroes Tame Impala will be waving the Australian flag at the festival – they’ll be in the NME/Radio 1 Stage on the second day of the festival.

The Reading and Leeds Festivals take place simultaneously from 22nd-24th August. More information on each festival can be found by clicking on the respective links above.
