Y2K cyberpunk electro-pop queen Grimes has begun the next chapter of her musical career, today teasing her new song ‘LOVE’ online.
On the surface, it would seem the song is a nod toward her recently announced split from partner Elon Musk, but on the contrary, it’s an ironically titled tune taking aim at “online hate.”
“I wrote and produced this song this week in response to all the privacy invasion, bad press, online hate, and harassment by paparazzi I’ve experienced this week,” she said on her Instagram.
The post was accompanied by a DIY music video shot from her phone, featuring some trademark Grimes’ bling and special effects from an off-screen fan (as in, the appliance). Check it out below.
