This Guitar Tutorial Will Teach You How To Shred A Mind-Melting Solo Like Nick Jonas

Joe Satriani. Steve Vai. Yngwe Malmsteen. John Petrucci. Fred Durst. And now: Nick Jonas.

The alpha Jonas Brother has had his guitar wizardry immortalised in a bonafide video tutorial, which instructs less able string-slingers on how to shred a Tele just like N-J.

It comes after Jonas busted a mind-melting guitar solo at the Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday night during his performance of the hit song Peter Pan with Kelsea Ballerini, footage of which has since taken the internet by storm.

And now, thanks to fellow guitar-bro Dane Kinser, you can learn how to reproduce Jonas’s iconic solo perfectly through this handy step-by-step breakdown.

“We’re going to focus on the more technically challenging second half of the solo,” Kinser says, comparing Jonas’s performance to other historic solos such as Pink Floyd’s Comfortably Numb or Guns N’ Roses’ November Rain. “Here it is from the halfway point. I just love it when a solo can tell a story or has some over-arching theme.”

NB: remember to make sure that opening bend falls a bit flat, then add some rhythmic string plucks in the dead space and use this time to think about your life.

Check out the video tutorial for tips on how to be a rifflord fret ninja just like Nick Jonas, alongside original footage of his ACM Awards performance, below.

Ouch! Nick Jonas' solo last night at the ACM Awards.http://bit.ly/FUSHIRT Posted by Thinking About Guitar on Monday, April 4, 2016
ICYMI: This video tute is taking the full piss. Jonas's guitar solo was one of the most painfully, hilariously awful string farts in recent memory, somewhere on the quality spectrum between Fred Durst and Lil' Wayne.  Everyone here is now dumber for having listened to it. https://twitter.com/nickjonas/status/717370249008529408
