Guttermouth Trolled Their Aussie Publicist By "Firing" Him In Public

Nothing is ever dull in the world of Californian punks Guttermouth, and that lesson was learnt by their Aussie publicist over the weekend after the band trolled him this weekend by sharing his phone number with fans and claiming they were going to fire him.

The US punks, who are currently in Australia on a “less drunk” tour following their previous “really shit” Aussie shows, posted publicist Rob Carroll’s phone number on their Facebook page telling fans to text him “and tell him he’s fired”.

“Maybe he will respond to you guys cause he doesn’t wanna take our calls,” they added.

Guttermouth then took the prank a step further, posting a video (below) of the ever colourful frontman Mark Adkins who claimed to be on the phone with Carroll and was firing him. “What’s going on now, I hear we’ve got some problems, I hear we’ve got a little drug problem going on,” says Adkins in the video.

“Sounds pretty fucked. So you go off on your little hippie escapade, doing fucking Jimi Hendrix drugs, and leave us fucking hanging. No wonder we fired you,” he says, before laughing.

Clearly it was all in jest, as a few hours later Guttermouth announced they were still working with Carroll and that “the whole thing was a joke to have some fun”.

Carroll told Music Feeds he only caught on to the prank after he started getting some “weird” phone calls and messages. Upon checking Facebook he realised what was going on and decided to be a good sport and go with it for a while.

“It’s very characteristic of Guttermouth to do something like that,” he said. “It’s not the first time they’ve put my number on their Facebook page or somewhere on the internet to get their fans to call me.”

After Guttermouth published their mea culpa online, Carroll too finally took to Facebook to let his friends and family know “its all just for LOLS – so please stop sending them strongly worded messages – I am ok and still in a job.”

“My phone hasn’t stopped ringing you bastards,” he added. Still, Carroll told Music Feeds, there’s no hard feelings there at all.

“At the end of the day Guttermouth are a great band to work with and I really have a good relationship with the guys so, it’s all in fun. No-one got hurt. I’ll still work with the band because they are fun guys to work with.”

Plus, he’s already working up a way to retaliate. “Don’t worry about that, I’ve already got plans to get Mark back. Through a media release letting the world know he’s a reformed vegan and is drawing influence from artists like Celine Dion for a new musical direction.”
