British producer-stroke-genius James Blake has returned with a brand-new track called Modern Soul, an appropriately titled slow-burner revolving around some reverby piano, samples and his gorgeous vocals.
Premiered during his BBC Radio 1 residency today, Blake has since shared Modern Soul online (below), but hasn’t confirmed if the track will appear on his highly-anticipated new album Radio Silence, which is still without an official release date.
Radio Silence, the follow-up to 2013’s Overgrown, will feature contributions from Kanye West and Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon, and likely a handful of other surprises as well.
Since releasing Overgrown, Blake has dropped the 200 Press EP and a bunch of other new tracks like 40455 and a cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s The Sound Of Silence, as well as some remixes. Earlier this week, Blake also appeared on newly-unearthed track called Untitled 2 by Fall Creek Boys Choir — his collaboration with good mate Vernon.
