Producer extraordinaire Flume closed out Splendour In The Grass 2016 on Sunday night with a mighty headline set which featured some sneaky unreleased material which has since hit the interwebs.
Tracks from his new album Skin made up the majority of Flume’s Splendour set, with Aussie artists like Vera Blue and Ngaiire taking on vocal duties, but there was also an unreleased instrumental track played on the night.
As Dancing Astronaut points out, the track is still yet to have a name, but it was featured on the Skin mini-mix Flume dropped earlier this year before he released the album. It’s nowhere to be found on Skin, but was likely created around the same time as the other songs on the record, and includes pitched vocals from the song Insane, a track from Flume’s 2012 debut album.
Triple j have already broadcast Flume’s entire Splendour set, and the unreleased instrumental appears in that stream. You can catch the song’s performance as captured at Splendour, below.
If you’ve already played Flume’s Skin to death then this will come as a welcome fresh dosage of Flume to the ears. It’s unknown yet whether or not it will get a fresh release, possibly on a deluxe edition of Skin.
