Byron Bay lads In Hearts Wake have released a music video for their Ark album cut ‘Nomad’, and it features an all-female mosh pit of the band’s friends and fans.
Directed by Ryan Mackfall and filmed in Melbourne earlier this year, the clip (below) features a mosh of ladies opening up the pit with elbows, spins, head-bangs and stage-dives. Oh and there’s also a toddler rocking out in earmuffs.
In a statement, In Hearts Wake say the heavy music scene has been male-dominated “for far too long”, and say that they know “not everyone feels comfortable in the mosh pit”.
“We wanted to create a safe space for self expression, to let loose and have fun,” say the band.
“It’s very important to us that everyone feels comfortable and safe at our shows, and most importantly, a place where everyone is free to be themselves. We had an awesome time filming this clip and we’re very grateful to all the amazing people who made this a very memorable experience.
“Always remember, it’s NOT JUST BOYS’ FUN!”
The ‘Nomad’ video is In Hearts Wake’s latest socially conscious effort, after they led a clean-up of some of Australia’s most polluted waterways in May and June, collecting over 20,000 pieces of rubbish with help from around 200 fans. Next week they’re also taking the project to Perth.
In Hearts Wake will take Ark on tour later this month, on their biggest headline tour to date.
