Here’s When Lady Gaga’s New Collab With Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker Is Dropping

Good news for those of you who’ve been waiting anxiously to get your eardrums on the curious new musical collaboration between pop superstar Lady Gaga and Australia’s own psych rock king Kevin Parker of Tame Impala: the wait is almost over.

In fact, we’ve entered the final countdown.

Mother Monster has revealed that the new tune, dubbed Perfect Illusion, is due to drop on Friday US time, which means it’ll probably be arriving sometime on Saturday for those of us living in KP’s homeland of Australia.

The song – which was produced by a dreamteam featuring Parker, super-producer Mark Ronson and BloodPop, whose CV includes Justin Bieber’s mega-hit single Sorry – marks Gaga’s first new music since the release of her 2013 album, ARTPOP.

And even though it hasn’t been released yet, Perfect Illusion has already been topping the charts. The sheer volume of social media buzz around this song propelled it to the number one spot on the Billboard + Twitter Top Tracks and Billboard + Twitter Trending charts last week.

The song also marks KP’s first time working closely with a major pop star, although Rihanna covered his track New Person, Same Mistakes for her record ANTI earlier this year. Previously, he’s produced for the likes of Perth band Koi Child and French act Melody’s Echo Chamber, although this is by far his most high profile release.

Meanwhile, Gaga recently crashed Tame Impala’s set at the 2016 FYF Festival for a rendition of their New Person, Same Old Mistakes, after she and and BloodPop posted a behind-the-scenes photo of them all from the studio.
