You did it, Axl.
After news broke that Axl Rose‘s foot was, uh, broke – but that the frontman was still planning to perform the rest of Guns N’ Roses’ reunion tour dates with a special stage rig – we playfully suggested that perhaps Dave Grohl’s famous throne of rock was available.
ICYMI: after breaking his leg on stage last year, the Foo Fighters frontman performed a bunch of his Sonic Highways world tour dates upon a glorious Game Of Thrones-style cathedra of his own design, which was wrought of guitar necks, spotlights, a speaker cabinet, an illuminated Foos logo and “lasers and shit”.
And it was astride that same rock n’ roll throne that W. Axl Rose powered onto the stage at last night’s Guns N’ Roses reunion show in Las Vegas (sans the Foos logo, of course).
And after a dynamite performance, Axl has taken to Twitter to thank Grohl for doing him a solid:
The extent to which this is a seriously baller move by both parties can not be understated. Dave & Axl’s swag rating = through the roof. And it turns out the Foos frontman was even in the audience to watch the whole thing!
It’s been an absolutely fuck-off huge week for Guns N’ Roses. The reformed lineup of Axl, Slash & Duff (and yes we know it’s not the original without Izzy and Steve, you guys) performed together for the first time in 23 years last weekend at a surprise gig in LA (aka “The Jungle”), the place where it all began for the legendary hard rock band.
They dusted off a killer setlist of greatest hits, covers, and even selections from the Slash- and Duff-less 2008 album, Chinese Democracy and were in hot form doing it. Even Axl’s pipes were firing.
Nek minnut, Axl breaks his foot and gets it filled with screws & bolts, but still takes the stage in Las Vegas as scheduled the very next weekend and in fuckin’ style if we do say so.
Last night’s show represented the first official date of the iconic band’s awesomely named Not In This Lifetime reunion tour (which we are praying to the rock gods will be coming to Australia some time soon!) and featured even more amazing setlist additions, in the form of Use Your Illusion I & II faves Double Talkin’ Jive, Estranged, Civil War, and the first performance of Coma since 1993.
“They should have left it alone,” whine the naysayers, “They’ll never be as good as they were in their heyday.”
And I’ve got to admit, I kind of felt the same way when this whole reunion thing was all first announced. But now – NUP. Fuck that. It’s official. #GNfnR are BACK. This is awesome. I’m excited and you should be too.

Thank you @AliceInChains and f*cking Dave Grohl for helping last night happen. #GNFNR2016
