Yep, The House Band Played A Metallica Song When Megadeth Won Their Grammy

In what was a pretty awkward moment at yesterday’s Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, Megadeth were forced to accept their first-ever Grammy Award while a Metallica song played in the background.

When Dave Mustaine and company were announced as the winners of the Best Metal Performance Grammy for their song ‘Dystopia’, the house band leapt into Metallica’s classic track ‘Master Of Puppets’, as Megadeth awkwardly made their way onto the stage.

Mustaine gave the group’s acceptance speech, but didn’t mention the Metallica track, despite the fact that he was the band’s lead guitarist for a short time back in the ’80s.

The whole situation was either an expert troll or an awkward accident, and Mustaine has since returned fire on Twitter, with a troll of his own:

It should be noted that as each winning act was announced at The Grammys’ Premiere Ceremony yesterday, the house band wasn’t playing music by that act. Instead, they were playing something different, but usually from the same genre.

Watch Megadeth awkwardly accept their Grammy to the sound of ‘Master Of Puppets’, below.
