Hozier, Switchfoot Among Latest Bluesfest 2015 Lineup Additions

Byron Bay’s Bluesfest have already locked in over 60 acts for their 2015 lineup, and today they’ve dropped another huge round of additions, headed up by Irish singer-songwriter sensation Hozier. Also included in the sixth Bluesfest lineup announcement are US alternative rock outfit Switchfoot, Irish contemporary rockers The Waterboys, young rising US country star Hunter Hayes, and Aussie Afro-Latin favourites Watussi in their last-ever performances.

Other notable additions to the lineup, headlined by Lenny Kravitz, The Black Keys and Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals (in their only Australian shows), are NZ roots act Fly My Pretties, Vasti Jackson and Super Chikan filling out the festival’s Music Maker Presents group, Aus rock stalwart Diesel, Melbourne singer-songwriter and slide guitarist extraordinaire Jeff Lang, US harmonica legend Phil Wiggins performing with The Backsliders’ vocalist Dom Turner, as well as Nikki Hill and The Rumjacks.

Hozier is a big get for the Bluesfest team, with the 24-year-old indie rocker’s self-titled debut album currently sitting in top 10 chart positions across the world. Bluesfest director Peter Noble expressed his excitement in a statement. “I am so excited to be bringing to Bluesfest an artist I believe is truly important, and who is fast becoming someone who the music world will look to, both now and in the future for truly inspiring music,” Noble said.

He added: “To be presenting Hozier, Paolo Nutini AND Ben Howard at Bluesfest 2015 means we will have on our stages, truly the best emerging artist from Ireland, Scotland AND the UK right now at the one festival – it’s simply breathtaking.”

This is the second announcement from the Bluesfest camp this morning, after another round of sideshows from festival acts were announced. Bluesfest 2015 will be held over the Easter long-weekend, from Thursday, 2nd April to Monday, 6th April 2015, in Byron Bay’s Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm. Festival details and the updated lineup are available below.
