Jake Bugg Announces New Album ‘Shangri La’, Releases Single ‘What Doesn’t Kill You’

During an interview with BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe, Jake Bugg has unveiled his latest single What Doesn’t Kill You, a peek inside his upcoming sophomore album, Shangri La.

Bugg has released the official visuals for What Doesn’t Kill You, which might be simple but is sure to be pleasing to his legion of adoring fans. The clip kicks off with a sound bite of the young singer songwriter explaining the themes he wanted to explore on the new album – the harsh reality of street life.

The Rick Rubin-produced Shangri La is shaping up to be a much more pumping affair than Bugg’s self-titled 2012 debut. What Doesn’t Kill You sees the young crooner getting his garage rock on, and it seems to fit him well.

Speaking on the album to Lowe, Bugg explained that there was no sign of the dreaded “difficult second album”:

“It came quick but, for me, music’s what I do to get away from stuff. Even though its been crazy, when I have time to myself, it’s me picking up my guitar… I travelled lots and had some crazy experiences, so I had a lot to write about.”

Shangri La has been given an international release date of Monday, 18th November. Local release details are sure to be announced shortly.
