On Saturday April 3rd at 9.00pm, the John Butler Trio will present a free and exclusive iTunes Live from Sydney performance at the Apple Store Sydney to celebrate the band’s first studio album in three years, April Uprising with their fans.
April Uprising is available now, and comes in two formats available for download from the iTunes Store, both in standard package and as an iTunes LP which features three (3) bonus songs, three (3) videos and full artwork and will be the first Australian iTunes LP of it’s kind to be released globally.
JBT fans are invited to queue outside the Apple Store Sydney located at 367 George Street (cnr King Street) to gain access to this up close and intimate concert, but please note, entry to the event will work on a first come, first served basis and will be strictly limited.
A recording of what will be an unforgettable concert performance by the John Butler Trio will be exclusively available on the iTunes Store for download later in 2010.
The band’s current single, ‘Close To You’ reveals a harder edged side of the band and having achieved number one most added at radio on it’s week of release, it’s currently bouncing off airwaves nationwide. ‘April Uprising’ is the feature album on triple j this week, with 8 of the album’s 15 tracks on rotation.
After the iTunes Live from Sydney performance and these forthcoming special event shows in Australia this week, the John Butler Trio will embark on their biggest global tour yet including headline shows at the iconic venues Red Rocks, Colorado and Central Park, New York. They will return to Australia to embark on a national tour in August and September this year, stay tuned for the Australian tour announcement.

The album’s namesake was an insurrection organised by the Bulgarians in the Ottoman Empire from April to May 1876, which indirectly resulted in the re-establishment of Bulgaria as an autonomous nation in 1878.
