Despite previous reports to the contrary and despite it coming from the horse’s mouth, members of Justin Bieber‘s management team have rubbished claims that the 19-year-old pop star is retiring from music. The singer had tweeted on Christmas Eve, “My beloved beliebers I’m officially retiring.”
While the news filled many non-Beliebers with the Christmas spirit, Bieber’s notoriously ardent fans responded with shock, awe, and claims that Christmas was “ruined.” Now COO of Scooter Braun Projects, Scott Manson, has told the Wall Street Journal, Bieber’s not going anywhere.
Manson told the outlet that Bieber was “100 percent” not retiring, with General Manager Allison Kaye adding, “Justin is a hard working 19-year-old who would prefer that his recent fundraising work in the Philippines and the considerable amount raised for the cause be the media’s focus…”
“Regarding his recent tweeting about his ‘retirement’ Justin felt that this was the best way to respond to the latest in a long line of inaccurate or wildly exaggerated media reports about him. He chose to channel his frustration into playing along with this baseless rumour,” she added.
Kaye said that he “even used ‘beloved’ to tip off his core fans that it wasn’t real.” However, “within 20 minutes, Justin realised that fans were confused by the media reports and clarified that he was kidding. This wasn’t a planned stunt…just another day in the life of living under the microscope.”
“Justin loves his fans and understands that this scrutiny comes along with his success and the interest in him from fans and media,” concluded Kaye. While the news comes as a relief to Bieber’s huge fan base, those tiring of his globetrotting degenerate antics now have reason to sigh.
