Justin Timberlake Releases First Single In 7 Years – Proves He’s Still Got It

Say what you will about his acting career. Sure, he chose movies about as interesting as watching grass grow and acted in a pretty similar manner, but give that man a mic and he can do no wrong. Such is the opinion of, well, the universe after the out-of-the-blue return of Justin Timberlake to the music scene with his latest track Suit & Tie.

And who better to guide JT through this comeback than the man who’s retired and returned more times than, well…himself: Jay-Z (yep, Jay-Z and JT, dig it?). The track came after a brief period of teasing from Timberlake’s Twitter account, which he himself couldn’t take anymore, resulting in the track being unleashed today.

The track, which you can check out below, is an ultimate throw-back to the late 90s/early 00s. JT is sounding as much like Michael Jackson as humanely possible over the top of a beat that wouldn’t have been out of place in the year 1976. Jay-Z’s part seems to end before it really gets to a point, but hey, we get it that he’s got a child to support these days.

Don’t be fooled by the first 30 seconds of the track. The low and lazy trumpets and almost creepy vocals make way for a pesdu-EDM jam, but here’s the catch – no autotune and no dubstep. He’s kept his class and style, and he’s remained true.

But is staying true enough to conquer the pop music scene these days? It will be a long battle to remind the duped masses what pop music was and should be. But if anyone can do it, JT can.

You may remember Justin Timberlakes last studio effort, 2006’s Futuresex/Lovesounds.
