Justin Timberlake’s lawyer is pushing for the dismissal of charges against the pop star after his recent arrest for driving while intoxicated (DWI). The 43-year-old singer, known for hits like “Mirrors,” was stopped by police in Sag Harbor, New York, on June 18. He was charged with DWI and given two additional citations for driving past a stop sign and for not staying in his lane.
Timberlake’s legal team strongly disputes the charges. Lawyer Edward Burke told reporters outside the courthouse on Friday, “He was not intoxicated. I’ll say it again. Justin Timberlake was not intoxicated.”

According to The Daily Mail, Burke argued that the case should be dismissed due to several mistakes made by the police. Burke claimed, “The police made a number of very significant errors in this case.” He pointed out that the district attorney attempted to correct one error, but he believes there are many others. Burke also criticized the prosecution for not obtaining a superior officer’s signature on the initial charging papers, which he argued means the case should be dropped.
Adding to Timberlake’s frustration, it was revealed that the young officer who arrested him was unaware of his celebrity status. Timberlake reportedly said, “This is going to ruin the tour” when the officer asked about his tour. The officer’s response was simply, “What tour?” To this Timberlake replied, “The world tour.”
Timberlake is currently on his The Forget Tomorrow World Tour, which is set to conclude with a final show on December 20 in Kansas City.
