Kanye West & JAY-Z Reportedly Threatening To Sue Each Other Over Tidal

Rappers and former collaborators Kanye West and JAY-Z are reportedly threatening to sue each other over JAY-Z’s embattled music streaming service Tidal, with West claiming that he’s owed millions while Tidal claims it’s owed content from the rapper.

TMZ reports that Kanye has left Tidal over the dispute, and has allegedly claimed that the company owes him over AUD$3.9 million.

His leaving the company also supposedly pre-dates JAY-Z’s new album 4:44, which features a Kanye diss on the track ‘Kill JAY-Z’, in which JAY raps “you lost your principles”.

West’s latest album The Life Of Pablo reportedly brought 1.5 million new subscribers to Tidal, for which he was supposedly meant to receive a bonus that the company hasn’t paid. Kanye also claims that Tidal renegotiated on reimbursing him for music videos.

Tidal is reportedly claiming that West didn’t produce the videos required under his contract, while West is supposedly saying that he’ll produce the videos once he’s paid.

Tidal have reportedly threatened to sue Kanye if he took his business to another streaming service, but West is reportedly done with releasing albums exclusively on one streaming service, like he initially did for The Life Of Pablo.

West was one of the first artists to join Tidal when it launched in October 2014, but when the service later appeared to be struggling he wiped all references of it from his social media.
