Kanye West Just Apologised To Beck

Kanye West seems to be feeling a bit remorseful about the events that unfolded after this year’s Grammy Awards and, in a startling turn-around, actually took to Twitter today to publicly apologise to Beck.

“I would like to publicly apologize to Beck, I’m sorry Beck,” reads the rapper’s concise statement. The apology followed an extensive and emotional interview with BBC’s Zane Lowe, in which Kanye at one point broke down in tears while discussing Louise Wilson, a British fashion design professor who died last year.

For the uninitiated, Kanye is apologising to Beck for what unfolded after he almost, but not quite, stormed the stage at this year’s Grammy Awards after Beck won album of the year. While the move seemed to be a joke at first, Kanye later retorted on TV that Beck should “respect artistry” and give the award to its rightful owner, Beyoncé.

Since then almost everyone has chimed in with their opinion on the subject manner – from Garbage’s Shirley Manson, who called Kanye “a complete twat”, Kiss frontman Paul Stanley who called for Beck to kick Kanye “right in the nuts”, Steel Panther who penned a typically tongue-in-cheek song about it all, Liam Gallagher who called Kanye “utter shit”, and even Billy Corgan who said if Kanye West had tried to storm a stage he was on, he would “knock him out”. Beck, on the other hand, has handled all this pretty well.

Interestingly, Kanye actually admitted recently that he hadn’t even heard Beck’s album of the year-winning Morning Phases prior to his Grammy rant. Ironically, he finally heard it at a dinner with Taylor Swift, the first victim of a Kanye stage invasion. When he did hear it, he said, he actually liked it.

Kanye’s contrite attitude not only extended to Beck today, he also took the opportunity to apologise to Bruno Mars. “I also want to publicly apologize to Bruno Mars,” writes Kanye. “I used to hate on him but I really respect what he does as an artist.”

Kanye then reached out to the Uptown Funk singer, asking him to collaborate on a new song he’s producing. “I also would love for Bruno to sing this hook on this song 88 Keys / Puff and I produced,” he said. “I even asked Tyler to shoot the vid.”
