The Katy Perry, Russell Brand Marriage is over after just 13 months. Russell Brand has filed divorce papers and issued a statement today:
Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I’ll always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends.
The split comes just a few weeks after Brand told Ellen DeGeneres the marriage was going strong:
I’m really happily married. I’m married to Katy. Perpetually, until death do us part was the pledge. I’m still alive.
However a source told US Weekly that the couple had a massive fight before Christmas leading to the pair spending the holiday apart:
They had a massive fight. She was like, “Fuck you. I’m going to do my own thing.” Russell replied, ‘Fine, fuck you too.'”
Perry had planned to fly her family in a private jet over to the UK to celebrate with Russell. After the fight Perry spent Christmas in Hawaii while Brand stayed with his family in the UK.
Perry has not commented on the split and there is speculation she was blind-sided by Brand’s move to end their marriage.
