As their glorious travelling festival Gizzfest 2016 edges closer, psych masterminds King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard have gone full Mad Hatter, cramming an extra 17 acts onto the event’s Melbourne lineup, bringing the total amount of artists performing at this year’s Gizzfest to a proverbial f*ck-tonne.
That said, there is total method to their madness. Rather than throwing acts in the mix willy nilly, King Gizz have made sure their new additions will be performing on a variety of smaller demountable stages, each carefully curated by local (and awesome) record labels.
The labels chosen to curate include Aarght Records, who’s stage will feature Heirophants, Cereal Killer and more. Moontown Records have selected Greta Now and School Damage to be amongst those representing them at the festival, while Panache Bookings tagged GUM and Bitch Diesel, among others; and Flightless, home to The Gizz itself, will be offering even more delights from their roster.
Punters have now well and truly been spoiled for choice. Already, the event packed a worthy lineup featuring Pond, Stonefield, Mild High Club and The Gizz in pole position. Now it appears they’ve just gone mad with power…
