King Of The North may be down a drummer, but that hasn’t stopped the Aussie rock act from continuing to kick life right in the dick.
Following the recently announced departure of founding drummer Danny Leo, band leader Andrew Higgs has not only been busy auditioning for a replacement beatsmith, but also recording the band’s sophomore LP Get Out Of Your World with the help of COG‘s own Lucius Borich.
And with the disc set to drop on Friday, 5th August, KOTN have just unveiled one fark-off huge national tour to support the release. Their biggest yet, in fact.
To help launch Get Out Of Your World – uh – out of this world, Higgsy and his soon-TBA mystery drummer will be trekking all over Aus on a mammoth 23-date tour this August and September.
It’s due to kick off in the band’s hometown of Adelaide, before heading to both regional and metro stops across VIC, NT, WA, NSW, QLD and the ACT.
They’ve also incidentally outed themselves on the lineup for the massive annual Wallapalooza festival which is promising to return to the Gold Coast on September 17th with its most juggernaut instalment yet, following a huge foray into Melbourne earlier this year.
Tickets to King Of The North’s Get Out Of This World album tour go on sale next week, with details TBA. But for now, you can check out their full list of dates below.
They’ve also shared a snippet of their first single BURN, which features COG’s Lucius Borich behind the kit and TBH sounds like a heavier version Royal Blood.
Like their British rock counterparts, King Of The North are pioneering the two-piece band format, headed up by Higgsy’s “3 from 1 guitar technique”, which basically involves making the sound of 2 guitars plus a bass simultaneously from just one guitar.
So voodoo, then.

UPDATE 25/06/16: King Of The North have unmasked their new drummer. After 2.5 months of auditions, the beatman who made the cut is Brisbane groove machine Steve Tyssen (Greenthief, The Royal Artillery).
Higgsy said of the new recruit: “Steve has drummed in a bunch of Brisbane bands and is also an accomplished songwriter, producer, solo artist and multi-instrumentalist… and a pretty top bloke too. I’m really excited about having two songwriters in the band and what Steve will bring to the music and the live show. I know you guys will love it too. We’ve been smashing through the new tracks off the upcoming album and it’s feeling so good!”
