King Parrot Announce New Album ‘A Young Person’s Guide To King Parrot’

King Parrot have announced their return with the formal announcement of their fourth studio album, A Young Person’s Guide To King Parrot. The follow-up to 2017’s Ugly Produce is set for release on Friday, June 6th in 2025 via the band’s own Dead Serious Recordings. To coincide with the album’s announcement, the Melbourne extreme metal quintet have shared its lead single: ‘Fuck You And The Horse You Rode In On’. In a press statement, lead vocalist Matt Young said that the song was “dedicated to anyone that has ever crossed you, tried to belittle you or make you feel less than”.

“The title is pretty self-explanatory,” he said. “There’s multiple people in my life from across the past few years that this song goes out to, and there’s a special spot in the lyrics for each of them.” The song’s music video – inspired by the beloved film adaptation of Irvine Welsh’s Trainspotting – was shot on location at the Barwon Club in Geelong and was directed by the band’s longtime visual collaborator Dan Farmer, whom Young described as “a genius at his craft” in his statement.

“It ain’t easy recreating a scene where a bunch of dudes dive into a toilet bowl,” Young said. “We had the best time making it, but it certainly took a lot of effort and commitment from everyone involved. [Dan’s] ability to turn our visions into a reality is brilliant. We hope we captured a video that people can return to for years to come.”

King Parrot – ‘Fuck You And The Horse You Rode In On’

A Young Person’s Guide To King Parrot‘s title is a parody of progressive rock band King Crimson‘s greatest-hits album A Young Person’s Guide To King Crimson – which itself is a parody of the orchestral work A Young Person’s Guide To The Orchestra. The band recorded the 10-track effort at Danger Tone Studios in Reservoir, an outer suburb of Melbourne, with the studio’s in-house engineer Luke Walton behind the boards in co-production alongside Young and guitarist Andrew Livingstone-Squires.

“Throughout the entire mixing process we ensured that we got every element where we wanted it,” said Young. “Guitar and bass tones were experimented with until we found exactly what we wanted, the drum sounds were just right, and the performance was executed solidly. It’s easily the best studio effort we’ve ever made.”

Although the band are yet to announce an Australian tour in support of the album, they are currently touring through Europe in support of Pantera, which will then roll into another run across the continent in support of Master.
