Good news, blink-182 fans: album number 10 is officially in the works.
Drummer Travis Barker has casually dropped the rather enormous update during a new interview with The New York Times’ Popcast, confirming blink are actively working on the follow-up to their 2023 comeback album One More Time… this year.
“I’m working on the blink album this year.”
Barker is currently doing the press rounds for his emotional new documentary Travis Barker: Louder Than Fear, which premieres this week, when the convo turned to what else he’s got cooking musically.
And apparently, quite a lot.
After revealing he’s producing and playing drums on the next Alkaline Trio album, Barker added: “I’m starting a couple of other projects, like producing projects, working on the next blink album.”
Naturally, his interviewers did not simply allow that gigantic piece of info to float past unexamined.
Asked whether he meant blink would be working on the record this year or next, Barker made things crystal clear:
“Working on the blink album this year.”
There you have it. No release date, title or further details have been revealed just yet, so we’re not going to start carving BLINK-182 NEW ALBUM 2027 into stone tablets. But with work officially underway in 2026, a release sometime next year certainly doesn’t seem outside the realms of possibility.
Whenever it does arrive, the record will mark blink-182’s 10th studio LP and their second since guitarist/vocalist Tom DeLonge returned to the fold after an eight-year absence.
His comeback culminated in 2023’s One More Time…, the first blink album featuring the classic Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker lineup since 2011’s Neighborhoods.
And there are already some dates on the horizon where the next blink era could potentially start taking shape, with the pop-punk giants currently booked for a run of European festivals and headline shows in June 2027.
The news arrives as Barker prepares to release Louder Than Fear, a decade-in-the-making documentary exploring his life and career, including his rise with blink-182 and his recovery from the horrific 2008 plane crash that killed four people and left him with burns across 65 per cent of his body.
The deeply personal film features appearances from DeLonge and Hoppus alongside Barker’s wife Kourtney Kardashian, Tommy Lee, Questlove, Tim Armstrong and the late Taylor Hawkins.
For now, though: new blink-182 is in the works.
