Kings Of Leon New Album Expected In Early 2013

News has surfaced that Kings Of Leon are closing in on completing what would be the Nashville, Tennessee quartet’s sixth studio album. As reported by The Music Network, Kings of Leon’s last effort 2010’s Come Around Sundown reached #1 on the Aria Charts although not all corners of the music world looked upon the album so favourably.

NME’s editor Luke Lewis saddled Come Around Sundown with a bland score of 5 out of 10 and described the records as, “A stately modern rock album that’s so desperate to prove its own authenticity it forgets to be remotely moving.”

Still, Come Around Sundown took out the number one spot in 12 different countries and afforded the Kings Of Leon the luxury of trying other things. For bassist Jared Followill that meant working on his side project Smoke & Jackal, which also claims Nick Brown of Mona as a member.

When speaking with BBC6 Radio about Smoke & Jackal, who have just released their first EP simply titled EP No. 1, Jared revealed that Kings of Leon are currently writing their new record and was adamant that fans can expect something from his family band “sooner rather then later”.

“We will get into the studio by the end of this year… I think that people should expect something from us sooner rather than later,” Jared told BBC6 Radio.
