Kirin J Callinan To Plead Guilty In Court After Allegedly Flashing His Penis At The ARIAs

UPDATE: Kirin J Callinan Cleared Of Obscene Exposure Charges In Sydney Court

ORIGINAL STORY: Singer-songwriter Kirin J Callinan intends to plead guilty after allegedly flashing his penis at the ARIA Awards in Sydney in November.

The ABC reports the Sydney artist’s lawyer told Downing Centre Local Court this morning that he intends to plead guilty. While Callinan wasn’t present in court at the time, his case is expected to be heard in full later today.

Under New South Wales law, Callinan could face a $1,100 fine or a six-month prison sentence.

Callinan was charged with wilful and obscene exposure in a public place earlier this month, after video emerged of him lifting his kilt and flashing photographers at the ARIAs.

The incident led to Callinan being dropped from the 2018 Laneway Festival lineup, after fellow Laneway act Sian Vandermuelen (AKA Miss Blanks) took her concern’s about Callinan’s inclusion on the lineup to festival organisers.

Callinan later defended Vandermuelen, telling his followers to “respect” each other and not to harass her. He also admitted he was “a wee bit disappointed” to not be performing at Laneway Festival, but still managed to perform onstage with Mac DeMarco at the Sydney leg of the festival.
