Callinan was spotted mingling with punters at his hometown leg of Laneway at Sydney College of the Arts on Sunday, and was also seen momentarily performing onstage with his mate Mac DeMarco.
It came after the controversial singer-songwriter was silently pulled from the Laneway lineup over concerns from other Laneway festival acts, after he flashed his penis at the ARIA Awards in November.
Callinan also shared video of himself performing with DeMarco on his Instagram story:
Callinan was removed from the Laneway lineup last month, after Laneway act Miss Blanks raised concerns with festival organisers over Callinan’s inclusion on the bill.
Since then, Callinan has defended Miss Blanks, and has told his fans not to harass or intimidate her.
Last week, Crowded House frontman Neil Finn shared footage of Callinan’s ARIAs flash, while criticising Laneway for removing Callinan from its lineup.
In a recent interview, Laneway Festival act Moses Sumney described Callinan as “the best artist of our generation”, prior to Callinan’s removal from the festival lineup.
Callinan is still scheduled to support Mac DeMarco’s Laneway Festival sideshows in Sydney and Melbourne this week. The festival will continue in Brisbane and Fremantle this weekend.
Music Feeds has contacted Laneway Festival for comment regarding Kirin J Callinan’s Sydney appearance.
