Kyle & Jackie O Will Join “New Station” In 2014

Sydney breakfast radio duo Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O are confirmed to be moving their top rating show to a new station on the Australian Radio Network in 2014, after hosting their last show on Southern Cross Austereo’s 2DayFM this morning.

In what’s been described as “radio’s worst kept secret”, the duo will be taking over the breakfast show on ARN’s Mix FM, which will be changing names in the new year, reportedly to Kiis FM. There’s no word on the future of the station’s current breakfast hosts, Sami Lukis and Yumi Stynes, who finished their show this morning by thanking listeners for “a wonderful year”.

The Kyle and Jackie O juggernaut has been unstoppable, with the duo consistently taking out the top spot in the ratings, although new ARN neighbours Jonesy and Amanda have been closing in on them on station WSFM. ARN now holds Syndey’s two highest rating breakfast shows, with Chief Executive Ciaran Davis saying, “It’s unprecedented to have the country’s #1 radio team move networks to create a brand new station and we couldn’t be happier that they’ve made this switch with us.”

It’s been suggested the move was motivated by money, with the pair offered more than the $1 million contracts they were each on at 2Day FM. The Sydney breakfast radio market is worth more than $30 million in advertising.
