Lady Gaga stars in the upcoming Ridley Scott film, House of Gucci. The film is scheduled for release in late 2021.
A new trailer has emerged, showing Gaga in the role of Patrizia Reggiani alongside Adam Driver as Reggiani’s ex-husband, Maurizio Gucci, and Jared Leto as Maurizio’s cousin, Paolo Gucci.
Directed by Ridley Scott (Blade Runner, The Martian), House of Gucci is based on the 2001 book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed written by fashion industry reporter Sara Gay Forden. It centres on the events leading up to Maurizio’s murder and the messy aftermath. Spoiler: Reggiani was responsible for Gucci’s death.
The trailer is every bit as opulent and tense as you might expect, with Gaga and Driver convincingly made up to resemble Gucci and Reggiani. The film’s all-star cast also includes Jeremy Irons as Rodolfo Gucci, Salma Hayek as Giuseppina “Pina” Auriemma and Al Pacino as Aldo Gucci.
It’s Gaga’s second major film role, following her performance in 2018’s A Star Is Born alongside Bradley Cooper. She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress and won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for “Shallow”, which was co-written with Mark Ronson, Andrew Wyatt and Anthony Rossomando.
