Real-life musical angel, Lana Del Rey has had our hearts on strings for months now as we eagerly await her forthcoming album, Norman Fucking Rockwell. We’ve heard a bunch of new singles but now we have a Sublime cover, ‘Doin’ Time’.
Earlier this week, Lana shared a teaser trailer for an upcoming doco Sublime. She captioned the vague clip simply with “Summertime and the livin’s easy” and tagged Sublime. The doco is set to follow the story of Sublime, the Californian ska legends.
The trailer features a clip of Del Rey covering Sublime’s ‘Doin’ Time’ which is based on George Gershwin’s ‘Summertime’.
Released today, Lana’s rendition of ‘Doin’ Time’ follows the original pretty closely but her signature smooth and sultry vocals make it so so special.
Sublime was premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival last month to mixed reviews. Watch Lana’s teaser trailer down below.
We still don’t have a date for Lana Del Rey’s follow up to Lust For Life, Norman Fucking Rockwell, but we’ll be shouting about new developments as they come.
Listen to ‘Doin’ Time’ below.
