Liam Gallagher‘s son Gene Gallagher, Ringo Starr‘s grandson Sonny Starkey and model Noah Ponte, will stand trial next year after they allegedly started a fight in a Tesco back in May, 2019.
The trio are being charged with racially aggravated assault, affray and theft. All three were minors at the time of the incident.
The incident allegedly unfolded late one night at a Tesco express in Hampstead, North London. One of the shopkeepers claims that the trio were “windmilling” down the aisles of the shop, so they denied their exit from the store.
Ponte was then denied trying to purchase alcohol after midnight, as the store’s cut off time for selling alcohol is 11PM. It was around that time when things allegedly turned violent.
He allegedly yelled out to one of the shopkeepers “You bloody Indians. Go back to where you came from. You’re not wanted here.” No other details relating to the incident have been made public.
Gallagher appeared in court alongside his uncle Liam Howlett of The Prodigy, where he was formally charged with racially aggravated assault against on one of the shopkeepers, Hiran Rajput, as well as causing an affray.
Starkey was supported by his father Zak Starkey of The Who. He was accused of two counts of assault against Mr Rajput and his colleague Shvium Patel. He was formally charged with causing an affray.
And Ponte is accused of stealing a can of alcohol, racially abusing and physically assaulting Mr. Patel, and causing an affray.
The charges were first issued last February, which is when the trio first attended court. All three defendants have pleaded not guilty to the charges. They all remain on bail until their trial, which will take place on March 28, 2022. It is expected to take up to eight days, and the trio will face a crown court jury.
