Jay-Z branched out into sports management with the launch of his own agency, Roc Nation Sports, in 2013, and now fellow rapper and former collaborator Lil Wayne looks set to follow in Hov’s footsteps. And according to reports, Weezy’s first client is none other than Cristiano Ronaldo.
According to a report by TMZ Sports, the international soccer star and the rapper are good friends and Weezy is looking sign the Portuguese Ballon d’Or winner as the first client of his new agency. His company will reportedly be working with PolarisSports, an affiliate of the well-known CAA agency and GestiFute, through which the Real Madrid forward’s agent, Jorge Mendes, operates.
Wayne’s ardent love of basketball allegedly motivated his decision to open up the shop, which is said to be handling “Ronaldo’s sports management affairs in the United States. This will reportedly include everything from branding, to marketing and endorsement deals, as well as modelling.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo, who’s coming off a World Cup tournament which saw the Portuguese national team sent home in the group stage, has apparently celebrated the alleged partnership via Twitter. He posted a photo with a group of Japanese politicians throwing up Wayne’s ‘Young Money’ sign.
