It’s been a minute or two since Gang Of Youths conquered the airwaves with their 2017 album Go Farther In Lightness, but today, they return to us with brand new music.
After much teasing, their achingly anticipated new single ‘the angel of 8th ave’ has finally reached our eardrums, and you’ll be glad to know it’s made of the same poetic, life-affirming, retro-infused indie rock that fans have grown to know and love from GOY.
Moreso even, as the tune is a love song, expressing frontman Dave Le’aupepe’s devotion to his wife.
“It’s about the night I met my wife, finding a new life in a new city together and my desire to be good to her as time goes on,” he explains #nawwwww
The song is also the band’s first to feature multiskilled instrumentalist Tom Hobden, formerly of Noah and The Whale, who’d joined GOY as a live member prior to COVID and was announced as an official member last year.
The band have also shared a new music video, which sees Dave and the band move their way through the streets of their new hometown.
